The Blood Moon Rises - Out Today!

Market analysis
Seeker arrows and Necklace of Rupture reshuffle ranged gear demand. The Blood Moon Rises drops two structural shocks into the ranged economy at once. Seeker arrows are not a new ammo tier but an upgrade layer, so every stack of Dragon, Rune, and Amethyst arrows sitting in banks suddenly has a reason to be converted rather than sold, while low-tier ammo that was already marginal for combat gets pushed further toward irrelevance. Simultaneously, the Maggot King drops the materials for a direct Anguish upgrade and a Dragon claws competitor, which reframes both of those long-standing GE staples as pre-nerf relics rather than current BiS. The mechanism in both cases is the same: a strictly better option now exists that consumes or displaces the old one, and the market reprices the old one down while the new one is bid up against thin initial supply.
Impact rolls out unevenly because the quest gatekeeps everything. Day one is dominated by questers grinding through Vampyrium, so actual sap farming, Seeker arrow crafting, and Maggot King kills stay low volume for the first 24 to 48 hours. Arrow price moves show up fastest, within days, since any account with modest Woodcutting and Fletching can start converting stock immediately once Bloodwood trees are live. The jewelry and weapon side moves slower and compounds over weeks, since Necklace of Rupture and Crimson kisten both require repeat Maggot King kills on a new Grandmaster-tier boss that will have a rough first week of deaths before player-made guides tighten the fight.
Buyers on the arrow side are PvM accounts and ironmen stocking Dragon, Rune, and Amethyst arrows specifically to sap-treat them, plus flippers front-running that demand before Bloodwood sap production scales. Sellers are casual and mid-level accounts offloading Bronze, Iron, Steel, Mithril, and Broad ammo that no longer has any competitive niche once Seeker treatment exists. On the jewelry and weapon side, Anguish holders who see the writing on the wall list early to avoid the slow bleed, while boss-farmers and skillers with no interest in questing list Etched elder venator fangs, Crimson kistens, and Letvek for those who would rather buy their way past the grind.
Broad arrowheads and the bottom-tier arrows were already low-margin items before this update, so the incremental downside is real but capped, not a collapse. Dragon claws keep a broad PvM and PvP user base because the Crimson kisten only shines against crush-weak targets and is gated behind a hard solo boss, so substitution will be partial rather than total for a long stretch. Blood shard and Imbued heart supply technically widens through Venators and Superior Venators, but task-gating and on-task-only unique rolls mean the added volume trickles rather than floods, so any price drift there is gradual.
This read changes fast if Maggot King turns out to be easy relative to other Grandmaster-quest bosses or if Bloodwood sap rates get buffed post-launch, either of which would accelerate Rupture and Kisten supply and turn the slow Anguish and claws decline into something sharper. It also changes if Jagex nerfs the high-intensity Woodcutting XP rates in response to feedback, which would throttle sap output and keep Seeker arrows a slower-burn item than the initial rush suggests.
Impacted items
- Necklace of rupture · rising. New best-in-slot ranged amulet built from Necklace of Anguish plus a boss-exclusive fang, so early copies will be scarce and command a premium over Anguish. Price will track Maggot King kill rates closely and should ease as more players complete the boss reliably.
- Necklace of anguish · falling. Displaced as the top ranged amulet by the Rupture upgrade, which uses Anguish itself as a required component. Some buy pressure exists from players sinking Anguish into the upgrade, but perception of obsolescence drives net listings up as holders cash out before further decline.
- Etched elder venator fang · rising. The tradeable crafting step needed to make Necklace of Rupture, letting players skip Maggot King grinding by buying it outright. Demand should be strong and sustained given the boss's difficulty gates supply.
- Crimson kisten · rising. New BiS crush special attack weapon from a rare solo boss drop, immediately valuable to PvM and PvP players targeting crush-weak content. Expect a steep initial price that softens only as kill counts and drop supply build over weeks.
- Dragon claws · falling. The Crimson kisten offers a comparable damage ceiling special attack with a similar cap mechanic, partially eating into claws' niche for crush-favorable fights. Claws retain broader general-purpose use, so the decline is a share shift, not a collapse.
- Dragon arrow · rising. Best-in-class base arrow for sap-treating into Seeker arrows, since the accuracy and minimum-hit bonus stacks on top of the arrow's own high damage. Demand rises as players buy stock specifically to convert.
- Amethyst arrow · rising. High-tier ammo that becomes even more attractive once treated with Bloodwood sap, pulling buy pressure from players optimizing top-end ranged setups. Expect steady accumulation as conversion becomes routine.
- Rune arrow · rising. A cheaper high-tier feedstock for Seeker arrow conversion than Dragon or Amethyst, likely to see the heaviest volume increase among budget-conscious PvM players. Price pressure is moderate but broad-based.
- Iron arrow · falling. Seeker arrows make cheap low-tier ammo even less relevant since the upgrade doesn't fix poor base damage output. Already-thin demand shrinks further as low-level accounts have no reason to hold stock.
- Steel arrow · falling. Squeezed out of relevance the same way as other low-tier ammo, with Seeker treatment favoring higher base-damage arrows instead. Expect continued gradual price erosion rather than a sharp drop.
- Bronze arrow · falling. The lowest-tier ammo sees the least benefit from Seeker treatment and no competitive use case emerges from this update. Demand stays near its already low floor.
- Mithril arrow · falling. Poisoned Mithril loses relative value as Seeker arrows on higher tiers become the preferred accuracy and damage solution for Slayer and general combat. Niche poison-damage use cases remain but shrink.
- Broad arrowheads · falling. Players increasingly buy finished Seeker arrows or convert existing stock directly rather than crafting fresh Broad arrows from arrowheads, softening a previously steady Slayer-driven demand source.
- Letvek · rising. Newly tradeable Hunter bait that lets accounts skip the active trapping stage and jump straight to Stymphike hunting. Expect solid buy volume from efficiency-focused players.
- Imbued heart · falling. Superior Venators add a new on-task source for this drop, modestly widening supply beyond existing Slayer and boss sources. The gating to on-task kills limits how fast this pressure builds.
