Summer Sweep-Up 2026

Market analysis
Nightmare rework and weapon buffs spark a mid-tier gear repricing wave. The biggest single driver here is a stack of PvM gear changes landing at once: Nightmare's loot table swaps Volatile orb out and bumps Nightmare staff weighting, Ghrazi rapier, Soulreaper axe and Sanguinesti staff all get straight damage or accuracy buffs, and Burning claw eats a special attack energy cost hike. Buffing an item's combat stats directly increases PvM demand for it on the GE because more players want it in their bank for the content it's now better at, while removing or downweighting a unique from a boss's drop table throttles the replacement rate of existing stock and pushes remaining supply higher in value. Nerfing Burning claw's spec economy makes it strictly worse against untouched competitors like the Soulreaper axe, so its price has to give ground. Layer on top a Gauntlet prep overhaul, Coral yield rework and a dozen Hunter and Agility QoL changes and you get a broad but uneven repricing across weapons, boss uniques and a handful of skilling materials.
This is a Future Updates dev blog, not a live patch, so nothing moves on the publish date itself. Flippers who read patch notes will start front-running the poll immediately, building small positions in buffed weapons and trimming Burning claw stock well before any beta or live release. Once the poll confirms scope, expect the real price action to play out over two to four weeks as PvM populations actually shift their loadouts, with the buffed melee and magic weapons compounding upward as raid completions climb and dumped items like Burning claw and Volatile orb sliding as sellers realize the changes are locked in. The effect fades once new supply from increased Nightmare kills and Gauntlet throughput catches up to the fresh demand.
PvMers and gear switchers are the natural buyers of Ghrazi rapier, Soulreaper axe and Sanguinesti staff, snapping up copies ahead of the crowd because post-buff these become better cost-per-kill choices at multiple bosses. Burning claw holders who bought near the top are the natural sellers, looking to exit before the spec-cost nerf erodes its DPS edge over untouched hybrid weapons. Nightmare regulars who stockpiled Volatile orbs for later flips now sit on a scarcer, more valuable bag as the boss stops producing them, while newer PvMers speculate on Inquisitor's armour and Nightmare staff given the boss's improved standing as a primary source. Hunter and Agility trainers are quietly buying up Summer pies and raw wild kebbit related gear as the buffed training methods pull fresh players into those grinds.
Dinh's bulwark and Twisted buckler upside is purely speculative since the re-roll system is explicitly proposed, not confirmed, so any position there is a call option on a poll outcome rather than a locked-in trade and should be sized accordingly. Tempoross's deterministic Fish Barrel and Tackle Box purchase and GOTR's Abyssal Needle buy option burn account-bound currencies, Spirit Flakes and Abyss Pearls, not GE gold, so they cut RNG variance for players without touching GE prices directly. Gauntlet prep QoL like stackable Phren Bark, auto-pickup Crystal Shards and standardized enemy stats speeds up runs but doesn't materially change the net drop rate math for Enhanced Crystal Weapon seeds, so expect only a mild supply bump from higher throughput rather than a structural repricing. Combat QoL on Demonic Gorillas, Phantom Muspah and Skotizo's arena improves the fight feel but carries zero loot-table weight change, so none of that touches the GE.
This read shifts if the final poll drops the Inquisitor or Dinh's/buckler re-roll proposals, or if Nightmare's exact loot weighting numbers land differently than implied here, so watch the follow-up blog for confirmed weights before sizing any Inquisitor or bulwark position larger.
Impacted items
- Burning claw · falling. Special attack energy cost increase makes it noticeably less spam-friendly than untouched competitors like Soulreaper axe, cutting its DPS-per-energy edge. Current holders who bought at peak popularity are likely to sell into any strength as the nerf gets confirmed. Watch for a sharp drop the moment this hits a beta worlds test.
- Ghrazi rapier · rising. A straight Stab accuracy and Strength bonus buff makes this a better option at multiple stab-weak bosses, directly increasing PvM demand. Expect steady accumulation buying from mid-tier melee accounts well before the change goes live. Supply is fixed to ToB drop rate so price absorbs demand almost entirely through cost increase.
- Soulreaper axe · rising. Increased strength bonus and damage output cements it as a top-tier special weapon, pulling demand away from Burning claw. Expect buy pressure from high-end PvM accounts stacking specs for boss content. This is one of the cleaner buy calls in the update given the direct stat buff with no supply-side offset.
- Sanguinesti staff (uncharged) · rising. Buffed healing chance and damage plus the newly unlocked life-steal functionality at Wardens and ToA bosses widens its use case considerably. More mage-focused PvMers will want one on hand for content it was previously locked out of. Charged variant demand for Blood runes should tick up as a side effect.
- Nightmare staff · rising. Weighting increase from 3 to 4 slots means more copies enter the economy per unique chest, which would normally suppress price, but its growing utility as a budget magic option keeps demand rising faster than supply. Net effect leans upward as the boss's overall popularity increases from other buffs on this table. Watch total Nightmare kill volume as the real supply driver.
- Volatile orb · falling. Complete removal from Nightmare's loot table cuts new supply to zero going forward, but existing holders may see limited use cases keep demand soft, netting a price decline as the item becomes a dead-end collectible rather than an active flip. Expect thin trading volume once the change locks in.
- Inquisitor's armour set · rising. Nightmare's repositioning as the primary source, combined with the boss's improved loot pull from other changes here, should draw more farming attention and demand for the set. Buy pressure comes from mid-to-high level melee accounts chasing crush bonus upgrades. Supply should eventually catch up as more players run the boss, capping long-term upside.
- Belle's folly · rising. A drop rate increase would normally add supply and cap price, but renewed interest in Nightmare from the broader rework likely pulls in more completionist demand than the extra drops can satisfy. Expect a modest bump driven by collection log chasers re-engaging with the boss.
- Amulet of fury · rising. Removing the life-steal restriction at Wardens and ToA unlocks a previously dead effect at two of the game's biggest bosses, adding real utility demand. Expect buy pressure from ToA and Wardens regulars upgrading their neck slot. This is a clean second-order beneficiary the article never names directly.
- Dinh's bulwark · rising. Only a proposed re-roll system, not confirmed, so this is speculative upside contingent on poll outcome. Any price move now is driven by rumor rather than mechanics, so treat as a small speculative long. Confirmation of the exact re-roll mechanic would sharpen this call considerably.
- Twisted buckler · rising. Same speculative logic as Dinh's bulwark, tied to a proposed re-roll system that hasn't been polled yet. Price action here should stay muted until Jagex commits to specifics. Watch for follow-up blogs before sizing up.
- Ring of pursuit · rising. Being able to reveal full tracks after one's already started removes a meaningful friction point in clue and rumor hunting, increasing its practical value for active Hunter trainers. Expect steady demand growth from players re-engaging with Hunter rumors thanks to the wider Hunter QoL pass. Supply is limited to Hunter rumor completions so price should respond cleanly to demand.
- Summer pie · rising. The new ability to boost into higher Hallowed Sepulchre floors directly increases consumption of Summer pies as players burn through them to skip grindy floors. This is a direct, mechanical demand increase with no offsetting supply change. Expect price to climb as Sepulchre traffic increases from lowered floor requirements.
- Energy potion(1) · falling. A 15% run energy restore buff plus addition to early game loot tables massively increases supply of cheap low-tier stamina items, undercutting the value proposition of the dose. More bots and new accounts flooding low-level loot means price should fall as supply outpaces any demand increase.
- Raw wild kebbit · rising. Catch rate buffs from deadfall trap changes bring roughly a 4x increase in XP/hr from this creature, drawing far more players into this Hunter method. While higher catch rate normally pressures price down through supply, the surge in popularity and downstream demand from associated Hunter rumors and kits likely outpaces the extra volume initially.
