Market analysis
Sailing bounty rework floods GE with dragon ship materials. The core mechanic here is a double buff dressed as a QoL change: Bounty Tasks now require roughly 5x more kills, but per-kill drop rates for Dragon Metal Sheet, Bottled Storm, Broken Dragon Hook and Dragon Cannon Barrel have all been doubled on-task, and every Sailing creature now has a guaranteed farmable location. That combination means far less time wasted returning to port and far more time actively rolling for these drops, which nets out to a real increase in dragon ship material supply per hour, not just per kill. Add Orca now dropping Dragon Nails and Narwhal's nail output doubling, and the entire dragon ship upgrade material basket gets cheaper to produce. Rubium Splinters getting a 6.5x buy limit hike on top of this removes the last soft cap on how fast that currency can be dumped onto the market too.
The effect is front-loaded. Sailing veterans and bot-adjacent grinders will pivot to the new guaranteed bounty locations within hours of the update, since the article literally maps out where to farm every creature, so day one sees the fastest efficient farmers hit these buffed rates immediately. Expect the sharpest price drops in the first 48-72 hours as early movers dump existing stock plus fresh drops before the wider playerbase catches on, then a slower bleed as the new baseline supply rate becomes common knowledge and gets priced in. Sulphurous Fertiliser's Compost and Saltpetre demand spikes almost immediately too, since it's a one-time recipe unlock with an obvious profit angle for grape farmers, but the market for it is thinner so the price move plateaus faster than the dragon materials do.
Sellers are mid-to-high level Sailing accounts and dragon boss farmers who now have a much smoother, faster loop to bounty-relevant uniques, plus casual players who stumble into more Dragon Nails from Orca without even targeting them. Buyers on the other side are Ironmen and mid-tier mains working toward Dragon Ship upgrades, a fairly inelastic demand pool that isn't growing anywhere near as fast as the new supply. On the Farming side, buyers are efficiency-focused vine patch farmers grabbing Compost and Saltpetre to craft Sulphurous Fertiliser, while sellers of Grapes and Zamorak's Grapes are farmers whose 20% yield bump means more raw grapes than the wine-making crowd can absorb at current prices.
The Courier Task XP buff and the guaranteed-location bounty targeting are pure convenience changes with no tradeable footprint since they touch XP rates and pathing, not drop tables, so they don't get a call despite reading like big changes. The gem container crafting streamline saves clicks but doesn't touch drop rates or material sinks for pouches, satchels or totes, so no meaningful GE pressure there either. New regional worlds, the PvP rota shift and the Deadman event are pure engagement plays with zero item economy linkage. Echo Pearl's drop rate is explicitly unchanged despite sitting in the same table as the buffed uniques, so it stays flat while its neighbors move.
This read flips if Jagex ties a new high-demand sink to Dragon Ship materials soon, since a fresh use case could absorb the incoming supply glut faster than expected. Watch Broken Dragon Hook and Bottled Storm closest, they had the tightest rates before this patch and will show the fastest visible crash if farming efficiency holds up as advertised.
Impacted items
- Dragon metal sheet · falling. Drop rate buffs from Frost Dragons, Lava Strykewyrms and Bounty Tasks all stack, and longer tasks mean more efficient farming per hour despite higher kill requirements. Expect steady price erosion as supply outpaces the relatively fixed pool of Dragon Ship builders. This is one of the clearest sell-pressure calls in the update.
- Bottled storm · falling. On-task drop rates for both Armoured Kraken and Vampyre Kraken roughly doubled, and the new guaranteed bounty locations mean players can farm this specific unique on demand. Previously one of the rarer dragon ship uniques, it now faces the steepest relative supply increase in the basket. Watch for the fastest early price decline here.
- Broken dragon hook · falling. Great White Shark's drop rate for the Dragon Salvaging Hook more than doubled on-task, and Port Roberts now guarantees Great White Shark bounties. Tight prior supply plus a sharp rate buff makes this a high-conviction sell signal. Watch stock levels closely in the first week as farmers converge on the guaranteed location.
- Dragon cannon barrel · falling. Veiled Kraken's on-task drop rate for this item doubled and Deepfin Point now guarantees the task. More reliable, faster access to the specific creature that drops it means steady supply growth. Price should drift down as farming efficiency compounds over the coming weeks.
- Rubium splinters · falling. The buy limit jump from 4,500 to 30,000 removes the main bottleneck that kept this item's price propped up against flipper demand. Expect a sharp near-term price drop as accumulated stock and fresh farming both hit the market without the old cap slowing turnover. This is a mechanical supply unlock, not a drop rate change, so the effect should be immediate.
- Dragon nails · falling. Orca now drops them for the first time, Narwhal's average yield doubled, and Frost Dragon amounts doubled too. Three simultaneous new or buffed sources for the same item is a strong bearish signal. This is one of the more aggressive supply increases in the whole patch.
- Compost · rising. Sulphurous Fertiliser's reintroduction creates fresh, recurring demand from grape farmers chasing the 20% yield bonus. Demand should rise steadily as word spreads, though Compost's already-liquid market will cushion the size of the move. Watch buy volume on vine-patch-heavy worlds.
- Saltpetre · rising. Same mechanism as Compost, it's a required Sulphurous Fertiliser ingredient with no substitute. Saltpetre has a thinner market than Compost so the price response should be proportionally sharper. This is a direct, mechanical demand increase with no ambiguity.
- Grapes · falling. A 20% yield boost from Sulphurous Fertiliser increases raw grape output faster than wine-making demand can absorb it. Expect gradual price softening as farmers who adopt the fertiliser start listing surplus grapes. The effect builds over days as fertiliser use becomes standard practice.
- Zamorak's grapes · falling. Same yield mechanic applies directly to Zamorak's Grapevine patches. Given the smaller player base farming this variant, the relative price impact could be larger in percentage terms than regular Grapes. Watch Wine of Zamorak crafters for downstream buying that could partially offset the drop.
- Wine of zamorak · falling. Cheaper Zamorak's grapes lower the input cost for this product, making production more profitable and likely increasing GE listings. This is an inferred second-order effect the article never states directly. The magnitude should be smaller and slower than the grape moves themselves.
