Market analysis

Fractured Archive raid launches 20 October with wipes and no Overload. The Fractured Archive is Old School's fourth raid. Jagex's 6 October 2026 preview says it releases on 20 October. It is a group-only pinnacle activity scaled for 2 to 8 players, with 3 to 5 recommended. Duos are described as tough but manageable and solos as very challenging, closer to solo Theatre of Blood than solo Chambers of Xeric. Entry needs While Guthix Sleeps. Limited accounts cannot enter at launch, and Jagex gives no date for changing that. The article is a systems preview rather than a release, so everything below about drops, boss mechanics and prices is conditional until the raid is live.

The raid has eight encounters. The Archive Guardian is always first and a hooded final boss is always last. The middle three are chosen by door, and the pairings are fixed: Bork (with the Smorks) or Ezekiel, then Dreadnoth the Jellied or a necromancer, then Xarth, a Tormented Demon, or the Dagon'hai Trio. Each pair awards the same contribution points, so the route does not change unique chances. Damage to adds counts toward room contribution, but each room has a finite pool. Jagex expects a meta route to form and says new items could change it. The article gives no attack styles, weaknesses or gear requirements for any boss. The wiki only confirms that Bork is a Bandosian ork accompanied by miniature goblin Smorks, that Ezekiel is a Saradominist justiciar, and that Dreadnoth is the result of a Zamorakian ritual gone wrong. Any claim that one route needs specific slayer or demonbane gear is unestablished.

Supplies are the clearest consumption lever. The article says there is a points-based resupply, similar to the Helpful Spirit in Tombs of Amascut or the Supplies Chest in Theatre of Blood, and that performance before it counts. There is no Overload or equivalent, and players cannot bank or deposit during the raid. The lobby has a bank chest. On launch, a wipe returns the team to the lobby with an ordinary gravestone. Jagex calls this effectively identical to Theatre of Blood's wipe system, apart from the gravestone replacing Death Storage. It says it wants to keep it, and it has a backup of severe unique-chance penalties and harsher supply dwindling that is only a contingency. Practice Mode is not available at launch and will be switched on later with no date given. When it arrives it will refund supplies fully and let friends join, but only for bosses and phases the player has already met. The early weeks are therefore when learning attempts cost real supplies. Practice Mode should reduce that burn once it is live, and its timing is unknown. Players will still need standard boosting potions, restoratives and food. The article does not say which potions or foods the raid favours, so potion demand is a plausible channel rather than a confirmed one. The staple potions the article implies also have broad existing demand from other activities, which dilutes any single-source effect.

The rewards set the longer-term picture. Elemental Fragments (untradeable, +2 base max hit for their element, with dupe protection) and the Archivist's Folio (untradeable teleport to the archive, charged with shards) add no tradeable supply. Ascension shards are a stackable resource that charges the Folio and the Obligator and is used to make Ascension bolts. The article does not say whether shards are tradeable, and the lobby's Ascension rocks supply them slowly and passively. The tradeable uniques are the Rondache (a shield that reduces Melee, Ranged and Magic hits by 2 and stores the mitigated damage as charges for a Shield Bash), Zorya's Tome (a two-handed book that casts every three ticks, built around its special attack), the dual-wield Ascension crossbows, and the item that unlocks Zeal. Zeal adds 5% Attack and Strength to Piety. The wiki puts Piety at 20% Attack and 23% Strength. The Obligator is a Crush megarare that rolls damage several times, and its tradeability is not stated. No drop rates are given. Mod Arcane's quote about drop rates is not a confirmed commitment, so none of the unique prices can be judged yet.

The most direct market consequence in the article is travel to the entrance. Players are told to find the archive on a cliff face near the Guthixian Temple entrance and that the scrolls they have accumulated may come in handy. The wiki says Guthixian temple teleport scrolls teleport to the entrance of the Ancient Guthixian Temple, are dropped by Tormented Demons, work only after While Guthix Sleeps, and can be stored in the master scroll book. The article does not name the scroll, so the link is an inference, but it is a sound one. The scroll is a consumable whose use begins once the raid opens. The Folio will eventually replace it for anyone who earns one, and the Folio is untradeable, so it adds nothing to the market. The scroll's price had already risen before release. The recent-movers list shows volume 17.6 times normal and a move from 16,856 to 24,009 GP. The 7 October 05:24 UTC snapshot shows 26,000 low and 26,087 high, with typical prices near 16,500 to 18,000. It also shows 712,165 buys against 214,399 sells over 24 hours. Part of that may be anticipation, and the move could reverse if supply from Tormented Demon farming responds or if it was front-running.

Tormented Demons are the other route into the market. Xarth is described as a Tormented Demon unlike any seen before. The wiki says ordinary tormented demons are demons, so demonbane weapons work, and that they drop tormented synapses used for high-tier demonbane weapons. Whether Xarth counts as a demon for those effects is unknown, and the route is optional because the pairing offers the Dagon'hai Trio instead. Tormented synapse rose in the recent-movers list from 38,654,653 to 47,092,996 GP, and the 7 October snapshot shows 48.4 million to 49.6 million. That move may be speculation on a demonbane meta. The article gives no support for it yet, so it should be treated as unproven until Xarth's mechanics are public. The same applies to Prayer potion(4) and Super combat potion(4). Their snapshot prices are roughly at their 14-day typical levels, so nothing indicates a reaction yet.

On the supply side, Jagex says regular loot is meant to sit just below Theatre of Blood. It cannot account for the unknown price of Ascension shards and says it may retune the loot. It cites Tombs of Amascut, whose regular loot was generous enough that resources such as Torstol seeds are still recovering. That is a design intention rather than a table, and it makes the regular loot the thing to check once data accrues. Torstol seed was at 13,305 to 14,149 GP in the snapshot, against typical levels around 14,100 to 14,400. The Ascension crossbows are called effectively a raid-tier upgrade to the Toxic Blowpipe, which uses Zulrah's scales and darts and trades only when empty. The wiki says it is only tradeable when uncharged. If the crossbows reach the blowpipe's role for groups, long-run demand for it could soften. Their stats, bolt costs and supply are unknown, so no short-term effect is established. Traders should watch the first clear times and the unique rates once published, the Practice Mode date, whether shards trade, the Xarth demonbane question, and the resupply contents.
