Summer Sweep Up - Agility & Chambers of Xeric Changes

Market analysis
Prayer scrolls flood the market while ancestral and end-game gear tighten hard. The Chambers of Xeric loot table just had its purple pool rebalanced, and that rebalancing is the whole story for this week's raid economy. The total unique weighting pool shrank from 69 to 60 in regular mode and to 56 in Challenge Mode, while Arcane and Dextrous prayer scrolls had their individual slice cut by roughly a fifth to a quarter. Every other unique, ancestral armour most of all, got a bigger slice of that smaller pie, which functionally means fewer scrolls and more claws, twisted bows, elder mauls and ancestral pieces landing per raid completion going forward. The base purple drop rate itself did not change, only who wins the purple when it hits, so this is a pure supply reshuffle rather than a raid-wide loot buff or nerf.
This does not hit like a single drop event, it hits like a slow leak that widens over the coming weeks as thousands of raids get logged under the new table. Day one prices barely move because existing GE stock of scrolls and ancestral gear was priced under the old odds, but every completion from here out tilts the incoming supply mix. Scroll prices should start drifting down within the first few days as sellers who no longer feel scarcity-driven urgency to hold list extras, and ancestral pieces should grind upward over one to two weeks as the market notices fewer of them hitting the list relative to raid volume. Jagex has explicitly said it will not intervene again unless something is wildly out of line, so this repricing is left to run its full course rather than get capped early.
PvM regulars who raid daily are the natural sellers of both prayer scrolls, since most only need one Arcane or Dextrous for their own prayer book and dump the rest, and that selling pressure gets slightly less urgent to buyers now that scrolls are more common, softening bids further. Buyers of ancestral pieces are the high-budget mage PvMers chasing max hit and the speculators trying to front-run the scarcity story before casual observers catch on, and that speculative buying is what actually moves price fastest in week one. On the weapon side, elder maul, twisted bow, dragon claws and kodai insignia trade in thin order books at the top of the market, so even a modest scarcity bump can produce outsized price moves because there simply are not many sellers willing to part with them at any given moment. The lowered Floor 4 and 5 entry requirements plus the new boosting option pull in more sub-90 Agility raiders, which raises total raid throughput and partially offsets the scarcity gains on weapons by adding new supply across the board, even as it accelerates the scroll glut.
The article name-checks the Avernic defender hilt purely as a reference point for where scroll weighting now sits, but the hilt's own weighting was not touched, so it is an anchor for the conversation, not a mover, and should not be traded on this news. The Agility shortcuts, Colossal Wyrm course pacing changes, and bonfire quality-of-life tweaks are pure time-efficiency changes with no tradeable output attached, so they carry zero direct GE pressure despite eating most of the patch notes. The Fight Caves cooldown removal and Abyssal creature defence nerfs speed up training and essence collection but do not meaningfully change item flows in a way the market will price, since fire capes are untradeable and the essence pouch buff mostly saves clicks rather than creating new value. Mr. Goat's collection log removal and the various minor bug fixes are non-events for pricing purposes and should be ignored by anyone scanning this update for an edge.
Watch the first two weeks of Chambers of Xeric completion volume closely, because if the lower entry thresholds pull in meaningfully more raiders than Jagex modeled, the resulting supply surge could blunt or even reverse the expected ancestral and weapon price gains despite the favorable weighting shift. Any follow-up statement from Jagex signaling an emergency tweak to these weights, which they left on the table if things land badly, would also immediately invalidate the current directional read.
Impacted items
- Twisted bow · rising. Weighting rose roughly 15 to 23 percent while the total pool shrank, making it rarer per completion under the new table. It already trades in a thin, high-value order book, so scarcity-driven buying pressure can move its price disproportionately fast. Watch for speculative front-running from wealthy PvMers before the broader market prices in the new odds.
- Ancestral hat · rising. This piece saw the largest proportional weighting increase in the entire rebalance, over 50 percent in regular mode and over 60 percent in Challenge Mode. Ancestral pieces were called out by Jagex as the biggest driver of raider frustration, so completion-chasing demand combined with tighter effective supply should push price up steadily over the coming weeks.
- Ancestral robe top · rising. Same mechanism and same scale of weighting increase as the hat, so expect a parallel upward price drift. Full ancestral set collectors will keep demand sticky even as price rises, since the set's grind length was the explicit complaint Jagex was addressing.
- Ancestral robe bottom · rising. The third ancestral piece in the loot table receives the same proportional weighting bump as the hat and top even though the article's summary table only names two explicitly. Expect it to track the same upward price path as its set-mates rather than lag behind.
- Elder maul · rising. Weighting increased 15 to 23 percent, tightening effective supply per completion. Its price floor is already high and liquidity is thin, so the scarcity bump should show up in noticeable price steps rather than a smooth drift.
- Kodai insignia · rising. Same 15 to 23 percent weighting increase applies here. Demand from mage-focused PvMers is steady and inelastic, so reduced relative supply should translate into a clean upward price trend over the next few weeks.
- Dragon claws · rising. Weighting increase of 15 to 23 percent makes this melee special-attack weapon scarcer per completion. Broad PvM and PvP demand keeps buy pressure constant, so expect gradual appreciation as new supply slows.
- Dragon hunter crossbow · rising. Weighting rose in line with the other non-scroll uniques. Demand is tied to slayer and boss content well beyond Chambers of Xeric, so tighter raid supply layers onto already-consistent external demand.
- Dinh's bulwark · rising. Weighting increased 15 to 23 percent, same bracket as the claws and crossbow. It is a lower-value unique relative to the others, so the price move will likely be proportionally smaller in absolute gp but still directionally up.
- Twisted buckler · rising. Weighting increase puts it in the same scarcity bracket as Dinh's bulwark and the crossbow. Demand is narrower since it competes with Avernic defender hilt for the offhand slot, capping how far price can run even as supply tightens.
- Arcane prayer scroll · falling. Weighting cut by roughly 20 to 26 percent makes this the most common purple in the raid by a wide margin still, but now noticeably more so. Raiders who only need one for themselves will list surplus copies more freely, and softer scarcity should pull the price down over the following days.
- Dexterous prayer scroll · falling. Same weighting cut as its Arcane counterpart. Expect parallel downward price pressure, with mid-tier PvMers who previously priced out of upgrading their prayer book becoming new buyers as the price falls, which should eventually put a floor under the decline.
- Rune essence · falling. Abyssal Guardian and Abyssal Walker rune essence pouch drop rates jumped from 1 in 42 to as high as 1 in 5 to 8, a huge increase in passive essence supply from combat rather than crafting or mining. This adds a new low-effort supply channel that should modestly soften essence prices over time.
- Pure essence · falling. The same abyssal creature drop rate buff applies to pure essence pouches, adding supply from a combat source that competes with traditional mining and buying. The effect is smaller than on rune essence since pure essence has broader baseline demand, but the pressure is still downward.
