Market analysis
Pete Kayer's Challenges add PvP tutorials at Ferox Enclave and stackable net traps. The 7 October 2026 update has two parts. Pete Kayer has arrived at Ferox Enclave with five PvP and PvM skill challenges: Prayer Protection, Power of Freezes, Special Attacks, Gear Switching and Combo Eating. Four of them have endless or free-practice modes. Completing all five unlocks Pete's Penultimate Challenge, a fight against Pete in mid-tier gear. Beating that unlocks the Final Challenge, a fight in high-end gear where Pete fakes gear switches, uses freezes and combo eats. Surviving the Final Challenge rewards an Ancient cosmetic kit for the Imbued God Cape, with Max Cape and Deadman Cape variants. Ticking off challenges also gives a small number of Blighted supplies and 25 points for Justine's Last Shopper Standing shop. Both parts are live. They are tutorials and cosmetic rewards, not new combat gear.
The Hunter change is the part with a clear market link. A rope and a small fishing net can now be combined into a stackable net trap. It needs level 29 Hunter, is tradeable, can be stored in the Huntsman's Kit and can be bought at Hunter shops. It cannot be dismantled back into rope and net. The wiki describes net trapping as the technique for catching salamanders, and until now the trap was two separate items that took up inventory space. The update also adds a right-click Reset option to net traps, bird snares, rabbit snares and magic boxes. A failed net trap now stays in a 'failed' state like a box trap, so players no longer pick the parts up off the floor.
The market effect runs through the two inputs. Every stackable trap made consumes one rope and one small fishing net permanently, and the combination cannot be reversed. That makes the update a small, permanent sink on both items, scaled by how many Hunter players switch to net trapping. The wiki lists small fishing nets as a 5 coin purchase from fishing shops, a free item from the Fishing tutor and the Spirit Angler, and a ground or scenery spawn. Rope comes from Ned's shop, other general stores, yak hair spinning and the Tempoross ropes container.
The recent-movers list shows this link most clearly in the small fishing net. It rose from 180 to 598 GP at 1.3 times normal volume. At the 10:04 UTC snapshot on 7 October 2026 it quoted 431 GP buy and 1,139 GP sell. The latest low was 656 GP and the high 1,139 GP. Its 14-day typical range was about 183 to 219 GP, and 24-hour volume was 4,412 buys and 3,986 sells. The price has therefore already moved well away from its normal range. The shop price is 5 coins, and the article says stackable traps can be bought at Hunter shops. Both are possible ceilings on how long a GE premium lasts. Rope showed no matching move. It quoted 82 to 84 GP against a typical range of about 71 to 84 GP, and its 24-hour volume was 47,329 buys and 17,184 sells. Rope also has many other uses and a free supply from Tempoross, so a net-trap sink is likely to be small relative to existing demand.
The article does not make the stackable net trap's own GE listing visible. A search for it returned nothing at the time of writing, so it gets no item card. How the trap is priced against its rope and net inputs is an open question. If it sells cheaply at Hunter shops, players may buy traps there instead of crafting them, and the GE input prices would feel less pressure. Watch the trap's market listing and the Hunter shop price.
The PvP challenges have no confirmed item sink or source. Combo Eating is built around sharks, Saradomin brews and karambwans, and Power of Freezes mentions mithril and adamant seeds. The article does not say whether players bring their own supplies or are given them, and loadouts are customised in the UI. No extra demand for sharks, Saradomin brews, karambwans or seeds is therefore established. The Blighted supplies are described only as a small number and are usable in the Wilderness and other PvP situations, so any added supply is likely to be minor and one-off. The Ancient cosmetic kit and its variants are not shown as tradeable in the article, and no reward is shown to change combat utility. The remaining items in the recent-movers list, such as Ensouled dog head, steel studs, achey tree logs and bass, have no mechanism in the article or wiki linking them to this update.
The merchandise notes (the Godwars replica collection and the Jad statue), the PvP world rota change and the Wild Kebbit message fix are announcements or minor fixes. They do not change any tradeable item.
Impacted items
- Small fishing net · neutral. Each stackable net trap consumes one small fishing net, and the trap cannot be dismantled, so Hunter players who adopt it create a permanent sink. The item has already moved: it rose from 180 to 598 GP in the recent-movers list, and the 10:04 UTC snapshot on 7 October 2026 quoted 431 GP buy, 1,139 GP sell and a 656 GP latest low. Its 14-day typical range was about 183 to 219 GP. The wiki lists it as a 5 coin shop item, a free item from the Fishing tutor and Spirit Angler, and a ground spawn. The article also says stackable traps can be bought at Hunter shops. Shop supply and trap purchases could cap how long a premium holds, and the wide spread suggests thin quotes. Net direction is unclear. Watch the trap's own price and how many nets are bought on the GE against shop supply.
- Rope · neutral. Rope is the second input to the stackable net trap, and the combination is permanent, so each trap removes one rope. Rope also has many quest and passage uses and several free or shop supplies, including the Tempoross ropes container, which dilutes any new sink. At the 10:04 UTC snapshot it quoted 82 buy and 84 sell, within its 14-day typical range of about 71 to 84 GP, with 47,329 buys and 17,184 sells in 24 hours. Rope shows no move yet. Relevant but net direction is unclear: watch for a shift in rope volume or price as Hunter players start making traps.
